About Me

My name is Ewen Watson and I am a freelance music specialist based in the town of Forres in the North East of Scotland.  I use both new resources and traditional instruments to allow people of all ages and abilities to become actively involved in the music-making process.

Having graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MSc in Music in the Community, I have been trained to use innovative technology to allow those with multiple and complex physical and learning disabilities to access a high quality of music performance.  I play guitar, sing, compose and have a bank of general adaptable music skills (drums, keyboard, percussion).

I currently have access to, the following resources:

Skoog
A tactile device that can recreate the sounds of other instruments and can be tailored to the precise needs of the user.  The Skoog can be touched, squeezed, shaken, thrown, rolled, dropped and hit to accurately control instruments, sound effects and samples.

Soundbeam 5
A 'touch-free', motion-based instrument which can allow anybody to play soundscapes with the smallest of bodily movements. The Soundbeam also includes easy-to-use switches that can trigger a variety of sounds.

Figurenotes
A colour-based music notation system which makes reading and playing music incredibly accessible.

Tablet Applications/Computer Software
The latest music performance apps and software which can allow people to easily create, record and listen to music on home tablet devices.

WOWee One Speakers
Portable wireless speakers that be connected to most devices, WOWee technology uses vibrations to allow users to 'feel' sounds and can turn surfaces into speakers.
